Hello Sycamore Class

 

I hope you have all enjoyed your summer holidays and have enjoyed being back at school.  I have enjoyed having you all back in the classroom and it has been lovely to see your happy faces.

 

Just to let you know our PE days are Mondays and Wednesdays.

Congratulations to everyone on acheiveing a silver or gold housepoint certificate this term.

Science Investigation - We carried out an investigation incorporating the snow into our experiment. We wanted to see if the person with the longest arm could throw the furthest.

GLOW Day March 2022- 7 Cliffedale Challenges Completed. We flew a kite, held a minibeast, made a grass trumpet, created cave paintings, built a den, launched an egg with out breaking it and read a book to someone in a different class.

As part of our work on Incarnation, children in Year 3-4 suggested some questions to find out how a Christian's beliefs impact their daily lives. They interviewed Jennie Fytche of the Lightspace organisation who was extremely impressed by the level of questioning.

Design and Technology - We designed a game involving a working circuit, we explored and tested the circuit, we created and made the game and the evaluated our ideas.

WOW Work! Some of our class have enjoyed creative writing at home in their spare time and we are so proud of the work they have produced.

GLOW Day -The children loved being outside, hunting for bugs, holding and observing them with magnifying glasses, bug boxes and microscopes. We explored the different type of trees on the school grounds and Mrs. Crossland taught us all about them. Finally, we enjoyed making weather vanes, rain gauges - using plastic bottles and jelly and we made our own anemometer.

Growing, Growing, Growing - During Easter half term Bella and Evie got busy planting! They have done an amazing job watering and taking care of them.

NSPCC Maths Day- we enjoyed a range of Maths games and activities and even completed some Cliffedale Challenges!

Science Day - We have experimented with different types of plastic, created our own Super Robo Bugs using different bugs and learnt about the importance of using a range of sources to check facts.

Design Technology Day - We have created our own bug hotels, made a natural material paintbrush and designed our own mandala patterns.

We had a lot of fun learning about the myth of St George and the Dragon.

We listened carefully to the story and spent some mindfulness time connecting with others and retelling the story!

The children have thoroughly enjoyed taking part in Yoga this term. Hopefully they can use this at home to support their well being.

Talk for Writing - We have enjoyed using actions and pictures to help us retell part of the story, the BFG. It has helped us complete some suspense writing.

In Art this week we have been learning about the artist John Nieto and have enjoyed creating our own versions of his work.

We have enjoyed learning some new Yoga moves this week. We are becoming experts at some of them.
