Cliffedale Primary School

Be the best that you can be

Michelle Bailey

I have been a parent governor since January 2024 and chose to take on the role as a way of giving something back to the school community.

I am proud to support the school in achieving its vision, aims and objectives, with the children and safeguarding at the heart of everything we do.

My professional background is in financial services, specialising in compliance. The skills and experience I bring from this role support strong governance through effective monitoring, accountability and attention to detail. I am a member of the Curriculum Committee and the school’s SEND Governor, where I have a particular focus on inclusion, accessibility and ensuring the curriculum meets the needs of all learners. I also oversee the school’s annual website review and have a strong interest in Phonics and the Arts.

Alongside my professional experience, I am also a parent of a child with SEND. This personal experience, combined with completing a Postgraduate Certificate in Autism, gives me a strong understanding of the importance of early identification, appropriate support and working in partnership with families. It enables me to contribute meaningfully to discussions around SEND provision, support and outcomes for children with additional needs.

Outside of my role as a governor, I enjoy being creative, particularly working with flowers and resin. I love spending time outdoors with my family and baking with my son.
