7th Infantry Brigade visit

Today we had a visit from the 7th Infantry Brigade. We had three activities to complete with differing objectives and outcomes. One activity was to experience an army drill, by crawling through the net and picking up key supplies to bring them back. Some of the heavy supplies required teamwork! Another activity was a problem solving task, where we had to pass tyres from one cone to another, but there were very strict rules that had to be adhered to! Finally, we learned about all the different vehicles the army can use, listened to different scenario cards to choose the correct vehicle. It was a fantastic day, great fun and we learned a lot about resilience, working hard and teamwork!

Tuesday and Wednesday saw our STEM days. We took part in a lot of different activities relating to DT and Science. Some were more messy than others. We had a space theme on Tuesday where children had to create a module that would land on Mars and keep the contents inside safe. The test was an egg, this resulted in differing levels of success!

We also had to construct a base with spaghetti, this was hard! The spaghetti was very fragile and snapped a lot! We then carried out some experiments to do with changing materials and how different materials make solutions. We made ooblek, as well as our own lava lamp and a very quick volcano explosion! We linked our current forces topic and the Mars theme by making our own rockets with balloons, straws and a bit of string!
