Be the best that you can be

Y5 Beech - Mrs New

Max and his brothers, George and Teddy. What a fabulous Christmas tree!

For our first science lesson this term, the children had lots of fun exploring circulatory monitoring devices!

Beech Class commemorates Remembrance Day 2022

Congratulations to our first ever Beech Class Star Readers of the Week. A combination of reading and book reviews has earnt Malak and Eva the first ever Star Reader Award! Let's hope there are many more children to add to this list in due course!

Congratulations to Lila and Eva for their fantastic footballing skills which helped our Clifffedale team win the tournament. We're very proud of you!

Greek Day 2022! Year 5 had a fantastic day celebrating Ancient Greece: they made mosaics, designed Greek shields, made greek salad and even dressed up as warriors and goddesses. A fun day had by all!

'Hello Yellow!' In recognition of World Mental Health Day, we wore yellow in school and talked about how to look after our wellbeing in and out of school.

Hundertwasser Art: Using the work of Hundertwasser as our inspiration, Beech class initially drew a house from observation before focussing on one section of their drawing to create a print, and then applying random shapes and shading to the house to break up the monotony of straight lines. Those houses would certainly make for an eye-catching street!

Congratulations to our Beech Class School Council representatives! Many children took part in the process, where candidates presented their persuasive speeches and the rest of the class cast their votes, but Olivia and Lila won by a narrow margin. Well done, girls!

We have been learning about the Kodaly Method in music. The children were able to read the music and clap in rhythm. They worked brilliantly in their teams and even added some of their own actions!
