Special Events (pre Sept 19)

Friday 8th March

It was great to see all of the children dressed today as their favourite character to celebrate World Book Day. Their creativity was amazing! Harry Potter and Where's Wally was popular along with characters from David Walliams and Roald Dahl Books. We also had princesses, James Bond, Little Red Riding Hood and an Oompa Loompa.

We also had a visit from the Hobgoblin Theatre Company who performed 'The Greatest Fairy Tale Ever Told.' This was enjoyed from all ages: from the Foxes and Squirrels up to Year 6 (including the adults!)

Monday 17th December

This morning we held our EYFS Christingle workshop. It was lovely to have lots of adults join us for the making of the Christingles. Mrs Fytch and Mrs Smith talked to us about the significance of the Christingle. We lit the candles and then the Foxes and Squirrels the sang Away in a manger. After the workshop the Christingles were used for our whole school Christingle.

Friday 30th November

This morning Mrs Bannister and Mrs McBain took a group of children to Syston Fruit Farm to choose our school Christmas tree. After a thorough search the children finally found the perfect one. After wrapping the tree and squeezing it into the mini bus the tree has been decorated and is standing in the hall looking stunning.

CHILDREN IN NEED

On Friday we had a special Pudsey Bear Day. We came to school in our spotty clothes and our Pudsey accessories. Mr Pirrie was our very own full size Pudsey Bear. The Children’s Council collected donations at the gates. This year our Children’s Council decided to hold a danceathon during lunchtime. Lots of children came and had a dance and quite a few adults joined in too. Our Pudsey day was lots of fun and supported a fantastic charity.

Ben Smith, marathon runner and friend of Cliffedale, came to talk about his new challenge. He is going to run from San Francisco to New York in 38 days which left us feeling quite stunned. Ben will visit us again next year to share his plans and he will complete the run the following year. The children have given him some advice about what he might need to take with him - he thought a net to catch any bears was a really good idea!
