Hello everyone,

What a miserable week it has been! Your smiling faces around school have really cheered us up though. Thank you to everyone who completed the whole school project.

Our next project is to colour the brick template in the resources below and write a positive message in the middle. This could be something you would like to say to the staff at school, a message for children in school or at home, or just some nice words of encouragement. We would like them to be completed by Monday 22nd June, remember you can email, post or drop off your creations if you’re at home. We will then build a wall of positivity with your bricks and send you a picture when it is complete.

This week's learning on Oak National Academy will be Week 8 and will be uploaded by the Oak National Academy on Monday. https://www.thenational.academy/online-classroom/schedule/#schedule

If you are unable to access the Oak National Academy learning or would like some additional work we have created Maths and English resources for Year 5 and Year 6, please find these attached below.

Remember to keep sharing your fantastic work with us by emailing homelearning@cliffedale.lincs.sch.uk We look forward to seeing and hearing all about your amazing week.

Week Beginning 8.6.20

Hello Year 5/6, we hope you are all keeping safe and well.

This term our whole school topic is 'Here comes the Sun!' Below is a picture of a sun catcher that the children in school made last week. They also created comic strips with Super Soap's Handwashing guidance. We have had lots of body outlines sent in, thank you. You still have chance to email yours in if you haven't already done so. We will show you them around school later in the week.

Over this term we will be learning about famous artists, carrying out science experiments and completing a range of fun activities in the afternoons linked to this topic. If you are Home Learning you can find the activities for the afternoons in a work pack below, for you to complete at home.

For Maths and English, the children in school this week will be following the Oak National Academy learning. If you are still learning from home, you can access these resources by following this link: https://www.thenational.academy/online-classroom/schedule/#schedule

This week's learning will be Week 7 and will be uploaded by the Oak National Academy on Monday.

If you are unable to access the Oak National Academy learning or would like some additional work we have created Maths and English resources for Year 5 and Year 6, please find these attached below.

We are also going to upload spellings and times table practise each week. Each week we would like you to practise your spellings for your group and have an adult at home test you. If you want to, you are welcome to practise all of the spellings we put on each week. Try using them in a sentence to help you practise spelling them.

Don’t forget to also have a look at our new page on the website https://cliffedale.primarysite.media/ for weekly assemblies, adults sharing stories and Mr Murphy reading the Y5/6 class text for this term.

Remember to share your fantastic work with us by emailing homelearning@cliffedale.lincs.sch.uk We look forward to seeing and hearing all about your amazing week.

We hope that the sun comes back out to join us too! smiley

I hope you are all doing ok and not going too crazy at home. I need to go back to normal soon… I have started making friends with the birds!

This is my new friend in the garden! He comes really close and is getting more and more daring as the days go on, soon he will be eating off of my plate I am sure.

Below is next week's work pack. Keep sending me pictures of things you have been up to; I love to see them. (homelearning@cliffedale.lincs.sch.uk)

Have a great week, it is meant to be getting hotter again so get the sun cream and paddling pools ready! laugh

Week Beginning 11th  May

What a lovely start to the bank holiday weekend. I spent the majority of yesterday sat outside the front of my house, while we enjoyed some 1940s music and a picnic with our street in our own front gardens. I hope you enjoyed celebrating VE Day and have all had another good week. I have been in school this week which has been lovely and it was so nice to see some of you. smiley

The website we use for our PE curriculum have put together some resources that are linked to the Tokyo Olympics. If you want to do some PE click the link below:

Here is the next week’s work pack. Remember to also use other resources available to you by looking on our Home Learning page.

Hopefully we will see you all very soon. Keep going, you're all doing so well. heart

Mrs Coley

Week Beginning 4th May

Hello again 5/6RC,

I hope you have all had another good week, even with this miserable weather we have had. This week because we have been inside more, my husband and I have started a 1000-piece jigsaw competition! He is further ahead than me at the minute but slow and steady wins the race! I do think my jigsaw is harder; I have more sea and sky! My jigsaw is of Venice (where we went on our honeymoon) and my husband’s is the Eiffel Tower with some random images! Whose do you think is harder?

Below you will find the work activities for next week. As well as the usual English, Maths, Topic and Science there are some activities to celebrate VE Day next Friday. We would have studied this in our World War Two topic before all of this, so we've also got some resources for that if you'd like to have a look. You could make some bunting, do a newspaper report, make a Powerpoint presentation. As before try your best, you are not expected to do everything. Don't forget to check out the Home Learning page for useful websites and keep emailing through things you have been up to homelearning@cliffedale.lincs.sch.uk.

Have a great week, keep smiling, keep active and hopefully we will see you all very soon.

Mrs Coley

Week Beginning 27th April

Hello 5/6RC,

It has been so nice to hear from some of you this week via the homelearning@cliffedale.lincs.sch.uk email address. I love seeing what you have been getting up to and the work you have been doing.

Below is a new work pack for the week commencing the 27th April. As mentioned before there is more in the pack than needed, so just do what you can.

We also have an exciting challenge for Years 5&6. See below for more details, I can’t wait to see what creations you come up with!

I have been busy doing school work this week but have also sneaked in some time for some more baking and believe it or not I think I am getting better each week and enjoying it. My husband is certainly enjoying my new hobby, although we are having to do a few extra Joe Wicks workouts because of it!

Keep up the good work and keep smiling.smiley

P.S Don't forget to look at our home learning page too which has lots of excellent ideas and websites to try at home including recommendations of educational resources from the Government. This can be found under the parents tab.

Year 5&6 Home Learning Challenge!

Year 5&6 Home Learning Challenge! 1

Week Beginning 20th April

Hello everyone smiley

I hope you're all safe and well and had a lovely Easter, eating lots of chocolate!

Below is a new work pack for the week commencing 20th April. There are a range of Maths and English as well as a couple of other activities. The idea is to choose one Maths and one English a day. You will probably see that there is more in the pack than needed and this is deliberate. We have tried to give a range of activities in difficulty, so some are more aimed at Y5 and some at Y6. If some are too easy try the more challenging ones. If they are all too hard you could always try the activities on a Y3/4 class page.

Don't do too much, keep reading and having fun. You will be so impressed when I show you what I have been baking! I have been face-timing my sister and getting lots of tips. I have also been spending lots of time in the garden and enjoying the sun, which I hope you are all doing too.

I would love to see any of the fantastic work you complete. Please send me a message and show me what you have been up to by emailing homelearning@cliffedale.lincs.sch.uk.

Hopefully see you all soon.

Mrs Coley

Term 5 and 6 Overview

A Guide for Parents - How to support home learning

World War 2 Day- Today we started the day looking at items from WW2 thinking about what they were used for and who would have used them. Then we learnt two dances from the 1940s- the Lambeth Walk and the Jitterbug! After lunch we completed a rationing quiz, performed our dances altogether and reenacted an air raid. It has been a fantastic day and we have learnt so much more about life during WW2.
