Week Beginning 15.06.20

Hello everyone,

What a miserable week it has been! Your smiling faces around school have really cheered us up though. Thank you to everyone who completed the whole school project.

Our next project is to colour the brick template in the resources below and write a positive message in the middle. This could be something you would like to say to the staff at school, a message for children in school or at home, or just some nice words of encouragement. We would like them to be completed by Monday 22nd June, remember you can email, post or drop off your creations if you’re at home. We will then build a wall of positivity with your bricks and send you a picture when it is complete.

This week's learning on Oak National Academy will be Week 8 and will be uploaded by the Oak National Academy on Monday. https://www.thenational.academy/online-classroom/schedule/#schedule

If you are unable to access the Oak National Academy learning or would like some additional work we have created Maths and English resources for Year 5 and Year 6, please find these attached below.

Remember to keep sharing your fantastic work with us by emailing homelearning@cliffedale.lincs.sch.uk We look forward to seeing and hearing all about your amazing week.

Week Beginning 8.6.20

Hello Year 5/6, we hope you are all keeping safe and well.

This term our whole school topic is 'Here comes the Sun!' Below is a picture of a sun catcher that the children in school made last week. They also created comic strips with Super Soap's Handwashing guidance. We have had lots of body outlines sent in, thank you. You still have chance to email yours in if you haven't already done so. We will show you them around school later in the week.

Over this term we will be learning about famous artists, carrying out science experiments and completing a range of fun activities in the afternoons linked to this topic. If you are Home Learning you can find the activities for the afternoons in a work pack below, for you to complete at home.

For Maths and English, the children in school this week will be following the Oak National Academy learning. If you are still learning from home, you can access these resources by following this link: https://www.thenational.academy/online-classroom/schedule/#schedule

This week's learning will be Week 7 and will be uploaded by the Oak National Academy on Monday.

If you are unable to access the Oak National Academy learning or would like some additional work we have created Maths and English resources for Year 5 and Year 6, please find these attached below.

We are also going to upload spellings and times table practise each week. Each week we would like you to practise your spellings for your group and have an adult at home test you. If you want to, you are welcome to practise all of the spellings we put on each week. Try using them in a sentence to help you practise spelling them.

Don’t forget to also have a look at our new page on the website https://cliffedale.primarysite.media/ for weekly assemblies, adults sharing stories and Mr Murphy reading the Y5/6 class text for this term.

Remember to share your fantastic work with us by emailing homelearning@cliffedale.lincs.sch.uk We look forward to seeing and hearing all about your amazing week.

We hope that the sun comes back out to join us too! smiley

Term 6 Week 1

Hi all, hope you've been enjoying the sun over half term! The weather couldn't have been better during lockdown. I've attached Term 6 Week 1 work pack below.

Hopefully see some of you soon!

Mr Murphy.

HI!

Week 5 work pack is below!

I've been in work this week, it was very strange not being in my own classroom with all of you. Hopefully we will be soon!

Sun is due out again...BBQ time!!

Have fun in the sun!

Mr Murphy.

Week 4!

The sun is out today, we've had the paddling pool in the garden this morning!

I hope you're all celebrating VE day in style, I went out on my bike this morning and actually cycled through Manthorpe estate, I saw lots of bunting and flags everywhere!

The website we use for our PE curriculum have put together some resources that are linked to the Tokyo Olympics if you want to do some PE. The link is below:

https://www.getset.co.uk/resources/travel-to-tokyo/indoor-activity

Also, as expected, I have added the next lot of work for home. Hopefully by next week we'll have a better idea of what is going to happen...if anything!

Stay safe, enjoy the sunshine while it is still around!

Mr Murphy.

Hello everyone!

So, week 3 coming up...

Out of boredom (and laziness) I'm growing a beard. I'm going to keep it going until we're back at school. Mrs Murphy, and Theo do not approve! Theo keeps saying my chin is scratchy! They'll just have to put up with it for now. I'll not grace you with a picture just yet, I'll try and catch Mr Pirie up first!

I've made more cookies, the same as the ones in the video but this time I added cocoa, they were even nicer than last time.

I hope you're finding the work packs each week useful. Like I've said, they aren't intended to be all completed. They aren't intended to be the only thing you use, Twinkl is still free, Classroom Secrets is still there. BBC bitesize have loads of new resources recently and https://www.thenational.academy/ have loads of great lessons on too. Keep getting exercise, keep getting fresh air when you can. Learn something new, stay safe, wash your hands and soon enough all of this will blow over and we will be back to school soon! The end is nigh...Hopefully!

See you all soon, keep sending anything you're doing to the Home Learning email address, even if it's just a message, it would be great to hear from you.

Mr Murphy.

PS. It's VE day next week (8th May). We would have studied this in our World War Two topic before all of this, so we've also got some resources for that if you'd like to have a look. You could make some bunting, do a newspaper report, make a Powerpoint presentation.

Week beginning 27th April

Hi again!

Week 2 of resources are attached below, the same applies to this week as last week. There are more resources than necessary with a range of difficulties, the intention is not to do them all. Answers have been given where possible! We've also set you a challenge which is explained below. As it states, we did this as homework the last time we did the topic you would have been doing if we were in school, which is Sustainability. We did a fashion show too! It would be great to see your creations and ideas.

I'm enjoying the emails of people's work and tasks your doing at home, keep them coming! I've been in school this week looking after the key worker children. It was strange and quiet. Hopefully it will be full up soon enough!

Hope everyone is safe and well,

Mr Murphy.
