Minibeast quiz

Week beginning 18th May

Hello everyone,

I hope you have all had a great week. Thank you for sending me some photos of things you’ve been doing at home. I was inspired by Evie’s baking, so Sam and I made some vanilla cupcakes. However, I left the cakes in the oven for too long and we had to make a second batch of mixture. Then, the buttercream icing went a little bit too lumpy and resembled porridge! Even though the cupcakes didn’t turn out as expected, we still had a fun time together. I’ve definitely learned a few things about baking and I’m determined to improve my baking skills. Sam and I also had a go at learning numbers, using a water pistol to find the answer. This was a brilliant idea from Tobias. Maybe you’d like to try this at home to help learn your times tables?

If you would like to tell me what you have been doing then please send me an email to

homelearning@cliffedale.lincs.sch.uk

Have a wonderful week!

Love from

Miss Flynn

I’ve been walking, baking, painting a wolf mask and learning numbers.

Week beginning 11th May

Hello everyone,

It’s Miss Flynn here!

I hope you are all well and keeping safe at home. As you know, I have returned to school from maternity leave and have taken over the class for the rest of this school year. It is lovely to be back, although it is strange not being able to see you all. Some of you might remember me from before I left to have a baby, but if we haven’t met before then it’s lovely to meet you!

Sam and baby Daisy have been keeping me very busy at home. Sam has been learning how to grow corn on the cobs. Sam and I made a letter box so we can write some letters for friends and family and we have loved improving our drawing skills by watching ‘Draw with Rob’ videos on YouTube.

It is wonderful going onto our class page to see photos of what you’ve been doing at home. Did you do something exciting to celebrate the VE day 75th anniversary? If you have any messages or photos of anything you have been doing then please send them to this email address:

homelearning@cliffedale.lincs.sch.uk

To stay fit, we love dancing, walking and cycling. Daisy usually spends her time rolling and shuffling. How are you staying active? The website we use for our PE curriculum have put together some resources that are linked to the Tokyo Olympics. If you would like to try some of these PE activities at home then please follow this link:

https://www.getset.co.uk/resources/travel-to-tokyo/indoor-activity

The learning pack for this week is below. Twinkl, BBC Bitesize and Oak Primary Academy have some great ideas too!

I look forward to seeing you all soon. Remember to keep smiling!

Take care,

Miss S Flynn

Miss Flynn is having lots of fun at home!

Week beginning 4th May (A message from Mrs McBain for you)

Hi Guys,

Hope you are all ok and keeping busy!

I hope you are finding the work packs useful, remember don’t feel you have to do all of it. If there is something that you see and you fancy doing that instead- go ahead! We’ve had a few days where playing a game or getting out on our bikes has blown the cobwebs away a bit especially when you feel a bit up and down.

There’s loads of great things to explore on the internet, Twinkl has some brilliant things and BBC Bitesize has some fun video clips and interactive activities you can play. Don’t forget to send a message or a photo of anything you are doing to homelearning@cliffedale.school.lincs.uk

Below are the work packs for next week including English, Maths, Topic and Science. Next Friday (8th May) is VE day, so maybe you could find out a bit about this? We’ve added some resources and ideas for you to look at at home too if you wish! I hope you enjoy your week and the sun again hopefully!

Take care and hopefully see you soon (lots of crossed fingers!)

Week beginning 27th April

Hi everyone,

I hope you have had a good week and have managed to keep busy. I have been enjoying the sunshine, in between doing school work. I have tried to stay active by cycling or walking my dog, Hazel and have also done some gardening!

Thank you, if you have sent work in, via homelearning@cliffedale.lincs.sch.uk. The year 1/2 team are all really keen to see what you have been doing - so keep sending it in!

Below is the new work pack for next week. It includes Maths, English, Topic, Science and Phonics tasks. Have a go at them; try your best! You don't need to do everything! Be inventive, if you like!

Remember, there are also great resources listed under the parents tab, particularly BBC Bitesize and Oak Primary Academy.

I'm working at school next week, which will strange, without everyone there!
Take care, keep safe and have fun!

Term 5/6 overview

Hi Year 1 and 2!

We hope you are all staying safe and keeping busy at home. Hopefully you had a lovely Easter, resting and eating chocolate and were able to get outside and enjoy the sunshine we have had!

Below are some new work packs for you to look at for this term. There are a mixture of English, Maths, topic and science tasks for you to try as well as a Phonics pack. There are lots of things to choose from and we are not expecting you to do everything-you might like to pick one Maths and one English each day.

There are some that are easier and some that are more challenging so see how you feel or use your imagination and come up with some ideas of your own! If you would like to share anything that you have done at home, we would love to see them (homelearning@cliffedale.lincs.sch.uk). The topic web for Term 5 shows you what we would have been learning so it might give you some ideas.

Take care and stay safe,

Mrs Fender

P.s Don't forget to look at our home learning page too which has lots of excellent ideas and websites to try at home including recommendations of educational resources from the Government. This can be found under the parents tab.

Welcome to Year 1/2 LF! (Mrs Fender)

We look forward to sharing some of our learning with you on this webpage.

We will be doing outdoor PE on Tuesday afternoons and indoor PE on Thursday mornings. Please make sure you have your kit in school on these days. Earrings need to be removed for PE. (If your child can do this themselves that's great, but if not please could they not be worn on our PE days).

Our weekly spelling tests are on Fridays. Homework will also be given out on this day too. Please can it be returned by the following Wednesday.

If you have any questions or worries about your child, please write a note in the children's yellow home/school contact book or make an appointment at the office to see me.

Many thanks,

Mrs Fender

We also made some dazzling, dancing dragons, using our DT skills.

We have had a great start to the New Year and our new topic 'Animal Magic'. Here are our amazing animal paintings and some of our English work this week based on the Owl Babies story.
