Celebrations

We hope you enjoy our celebratory end to the school year ...

Easter Assembly 2017 - every class has been finding out how Easter is celebrated in different countries. Children from each class presented their research in our celebratory assembly today. We finished by singing one of our old favourites, 'Spring Chicken,' (with the actions!!)

Congratulations to those children who have acheived a Bronze or Silver certificate this term - we are very proud of you.

Our Gymnastic squad have been bringing home the silver ware after a superb performance last weekend. It is nice to see a mixed team of boys and girls of various ages, supporting each other and sharing success.

We are very proud of our sports teams who have been enjoying great success in recent competitions.

Our Girl's Table Tennis team made their coach, Mr Mapletoft , extremely proud by winning the regional ESTTA event and progressing to the national finals putting them in the last 4 of over 300 schools.

The children thoroughly enjoyed World Book Day this week. Our visiting story teller, Chip, spent the day in school spinning yarns and stories in whole school assembly before holding story-building workshops with each year group in turn.

Chip used songs, music, humour and the children’s ideas to develop stories and then worked with the staff after school in a follow-up workshop. The day was extremely valuable and certainly allowed us to enjoy World Book Day from a different angle.

A group of children from Years 5 and 6 took part in the Grantham and District Sports Hall competition at The Grantham Meres Leisure Centre last Friday. The children took part in a variety of track events. Our team of 22 children impressively displayed their talents. Their dedication and hard work was rewarded by achieving second place in the competition and they proudly returned to school wearing their silver medals.

Representatives from Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 attended the Meres Leisure Centre on Thursday to take part in the Grantham Swimming Gala. Seven other schools also took part and we achieved third place overall and first place in the relay races, returned to school with a trophy. We are extremely proud of their achievements. Not only did our children represent us exceptionally well with swimming, we were contacted by a local headteacher who had been impressed by the way in which our children had congratulated the other team and showed such a positive attitude. Our wonderful children are a credit to our school.

Gold awards, top House Point earners, the last MERIT of 2016 and a competition winner - well done to all.

Congratulations to all the children who have been awarded a bronze or silver certificate after collecting House Points since September.

Thursday 20th October, 2016

This morning we held our Harvest Assembly with songs and readings about Autumn, Harvest and helping others. The children took turns to present their offerings which are going to support the Grantham Foodbank.

We finished with a blessing for people of any faith and went back to class knowing that we have done a small thing to make a big difference to people in need.

Thank you so much for your kind donations.

Thank you to our lovely Year 6 children who presented their Leavers' Assembly to their families today. It was lovely to share so many happy memories of their time at Cliffedale and to enjoy a trip down 'Memory Lane' through a collection of old school photographs taken when they were much younger.

Today our prize-winning artist was presented with some beautiful materials in recognition of her talent and to thank her for winning money for the school. We hope you enjoy using them during the holidays.

Friday 24th June was Town Sports held at the Athletics Stadium. Children from Years 3-4 competed in a range of track and field events. It was a great day and the children really enjoyed the experience. The Year 5 boys did particularly well in their relay coming 3rd and Johnathan Page won the 800m event. Thankfully the weather stayed fine!

Thursday 21st April, 2016 - It's DISCO time again and what a lovely, sunny evening it was! The younger children had a very happy time joining in all kinds of musical fun and games and they looked fabulous in their outfits!

The older children participated in a different set of games and threw their shapes to different tunes but they looked just as fabulous and just as happy doing so!

Thank you to our PFA for organising this evening and giving the children such a lovely, happy time - it is much appreciated.

Our beautiful new House Point Trophy was awarded, for the first time, to KINGSCLIFFE HOUSE who have earned the highest number of House Points since January. Congratulatuons to Kingscliffe and to all other houses for their superb teamwork.

Tuesday 22nd March, 2016

The Bronze Ambassadors from The National Junior School visited us today to hand over the Legacy Torch which is making its way around local schools.

We heard about the Olympic and Paralympic Values and watched several films which inspired us to achieve great things and filled us with anticipation for the summer of sport ahead.

The torch was handed over to our Bronze Ambassadors who will take it to Belton Lane Primary School tomorrow so that it can continue on its journey. We were given a replica to keep as a reminder of the values: friendship, respect, excellence, determination, inspiration, courage and equality.

Friday 4th March - 'World Book Costume Day,' and the whole school looks amazing!

Monday 29th February, 2016

Our guests of honour this morning were our Mayor, Jacky Smith, and several parents who joined us for a very special assembly to get our week off to a celebratory start.

Our School Council members were each presented with a special, green sweatshirt which they will wear to identify their role in our school. Their parents were with us to watch the special moment when each of them met the Mayor and received their sweatshirt.

We are very proud of our School Council and the Mayor reminded them of how significant it is to have been elected by their peers.

They look extremely smart in their green sweatshirts.

Shrove Tuesday - 9th February - we made pancakes in Key Stage 2 Assembly today.

A big well done to all those who participated in the choir for Young Voices! It was a long day but everyone remained really enthusiastic and sang their hearts out! The children were fantastic representatives of the school and we are all very proud.

After counting up all the House Points and Merits, awarded since September, the children were very excited to find out which House had won for the first time.

The House with the most House Points was:

Kingscliffe House

Congratulations - what a great team effort.

Congratulations to all the children who achieved Bronze, Silver or Gold certificates after earning plenty of House Points over the last two terms. You have all done so well and we are very proud of you.

Dance Club

The year 5 and 6 dance club have been working hard on a fantastic routine over the past few weeks and last night they put on an excellent performance for the parents and teachers.

Play Leaders

We are proud to introduce our new Play Leaders who have successfully completed a training programme which has given them a wide range of skills and ideas to help our younger children play well together.

Play Leaders will be easily identifiable, at play times, with their smart tabards and baseball caps and we all look forward to the support they will bring to the playground.
